One of the most wonderful experiences in visiting a European cathedral is the beautiful and unique stained glass windows that dominate cathedral art. Each of the windows in this collection of digital images was striking to view plus to see the intricate patterns and detail that the artists of each window used to create a glorious work of art. From Chester Cathedral, with some of the most incredible series of stained glass, to Gloucester Cathedral which is known as one of the most beautiful cathedrals in all of western Europe, these digital images do not begin to do justice to the actual artwork seen. Some surprises were had since Liverpool Cathedral was found to be so massive with the largest floor to ceiling windows, while Canterbury Cathedral was so impressive with the tall arching transepts accented by wonderful medieval stained glass. Click on a cathedral name below to view images of glorious artwork in a wonderful medium called stained glass.
