4. James Stephens was born in 1833 in Tennessee. U.S. Census record of the town of Cleveland, Bradley County, TN taken on June 9th, 1860. He served in the military in 1865 in Tennessee. James was a soldier of Company A, National Guard East Tennessee.

He was married to Marastt Stephens in 1855 in Tennessee. Marastt Stephens was born in 1834 in Tennessee.⁽¹⁾ James Stephens and Marastt Stephens had the following children:
