a 24 hour business trip. Her mother Marcia Hancock Robbins and her father decided
it may be "safe" for him to take the trip, but Marcia went into labor
just a few hours after Daniel flew to St. Louis, Missouri. Daniel paced anxiously
in a hotel room on the 41st floor in downtown St. Louis because there were no
flights available during the night for him to get back to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Grace's father received the news of his firstborn child on the telephone. He
could hear Grace's first cries when she was delivered. Marcia's brother Keith
Maurice Hancock was in the delivery room "substituting" as labor coach.
Grace was named after her great-grandmother Grace Naomi Marquis.

labor for 17 hours before his birth. The longest ever for Marcia, but also Eric
