basic training at Ft. LeonardWood, Missouri and then was stationed at Ft. Bliss,
El Paso, Texas. Ken also served in Okinawa, Japan for 22 months and then was
stationed back in the states in Washington state. He was only there 2 weeks
when he was transferred across country to the Air Force base in Homestead, Florida.
There he was trained to use the Hawk surface-to-air guided missile for use during
the Cuban Crisis. Discharge Date: July, 1963. Ken was on standby reserve from
1963 to 1966 because of the Cuban Crisis. He served a total of 38 months. He
has an Official honorable discharge on April 27, 1966. Kathryn Grace Marquis

old. I remember very well the sadness at his sudden death, one in which the
doctor said he stopped breathing. I also remember the description of Kenny's
funeral, one that I was too young to attend, but did ask Kenny's grieving mother
how he looked, and she replied: "Just like an angel sleeping..."
