"Miss Elaine K. Jordan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Jordan of 133
Oak St., chose Thanksgiving day for her marriage to Howard I Johnson, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Johnson of Long Grove road, Barrington. The ceremony was
performed at 4 o'clock in St. Lawrence Catholic church by the Rev. Edwin A. O'Brien,
following a 15-minute recital of organ and vocal selections by Nancy Thelander,
organist, and Miss Jean Zenk, soloist.
Gounod's 'Aye Maria' was the solo that preceded the ceremony and while the couple
knelt at the altar, Miss Zenk sang 'On This Day, O Beautiful Mother.' White
mums adorned the altar and white satin bows marked the pews of the aisle down
which the bride was escorted by her father.
As Miss Thelander played the traditional Bridal Chorus from 'Lohengrin' the bride
was preceded to the altar by her sister Geraldine, the maid of honor, and Mrs.
Elmer Wasinger, brides matron. She wore a lovely gown of candlelight satin styled
with Alencon lace bodice, a panel of the lace ex' tending into the picturesque
skirt which swept into a regal train. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from
a cloche of satin and she wore a pearl necklace, her gift from the bridegroom.
White shattered mums centered with Amazon lilies fashioned her cascade bouquet
.
Miss Geraldine wore a strapless gown of mint green made will bouffant skirt of
net over taffeta and a satin bolero. Her halo head dress was of pleated satin
and her flowers were shattered bronze mums. Mrs. Wasinger's dress was like that
of the bridesmaid except that it was of a zinnia gold shade and she carried yellow
mums Their necklaces and earrings were gifts from the bride.
Alencon lace combined with candlelight satin was worn by Mrs. Howard I. Johnson,
the former Elaine K. Jordan, who was a Thanksgiving day bride. After the wedding
ceremony and reception at St. Lawrence Catholic church, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson
left for a honeymoon in New York City. After Dec. 5 they will be at home at
455 Prospect Street."
