was born on Nov 24 1914 in Hamilton County, Illinois. The 11th child of Alexander
and Hannah, she was born on a Tuesday. Her birth was reported by W.W. Hall,

came from all the Marquis family members placing a favorite name in a hat and
that was the name that was drawn. Della Marquis Gruthoff wrote that her father
Alexander wanted to name her "Mary Alice", but Hannah said "No!"
because that was the name of Alex's old girlfriend. Name sake taken from the
Family of Alexander Rhodes Marquis and Hannah Mae Pennell, written in 1988 by
Della Marquis Gruthoff. She was Baptist in 1954 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois.
Eileen was a member of the Elgin Bible Church according to the newspaper obituary
of Mrs. Eileen Weichert.
She died on Apr 4 1954 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. (Edith) Eileen died
of lung cancer and her obituary reads: "Mrs. Eileen Weichert, 39, wife
of Harry E. Weichert of 764 Stewart Ave., died Sunday morning at Sherman Hospital
after a brief illness. She was born in Hamilton County, Illinois, and came to
Elgin in 1928... The Rev. T.C. Fletcher, pastor of Elgin Bible Church will officiate
at the services on Tuesday at 1:30pm in the Bergan-Wolff funeral home."

She was married to Harry Elmer Weichert on Aug 26 1944 in Immanuel Baptist
Church, Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. Edith Eileen married Harry Weichert while
Harry was a Sergeant in the Armed Services during World War II. The Elgin Daily
Courier-News reported the wedding of Harry Weichert and Eileen Marquis:

"On Saturday evening at 6 the marriage of Miss Eileen Marquis daughter of
the late Mr. and Mr. A. R. Marquis, to Sgt. Harry E. Weichert, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Al Albert E. Weichert, 664 Forest Avenue took place at Immanuel Baptist
church.
The couple exchanged nuptial vows before a palm-banked altar decorated with baskets
of flowers and lighted by white candles. The Rev. H. G. Plowright, pastor of
the Aurora Bible church, officiated. Before the ceremony Mrs. A. B Brown, pianist,
accompanied Miss Helen Huffstutler, niece of the bride and Miss Alice Brown in
the songs, "I Love You Truly." and ''Saviour Like a Shepherd Lead me,"
afterward playing the wedding march to signal the bridal party.
The bride wore a dress of aqua wool crepe with silver nailhead trim and black
accessories. Her flowers were pink roses and mixed while flowers in corsage arrange-ment
and she wore a pearl necklace, the gift of the bridegroom.
Miss Ruby Schreiber served as bridesmaid, wearing gray wool crepe with black
accessories and a corsage of American Beauty roses And gladioli. Robert Schneider
was Sergeant Weichert's best man. Mrs. Weichert, mother of the bridegroom, wore
a navy blue dress and a corsage bouquet of peach colored gladioli.
A reception for 50 relatives followed the ceremony at the bride's home, 186 S.
State St., which was decorated throughout with early fall flowers. Refreshments
were served by the Misses Betty Van Wambeke, Lillian Bergeson and Marian Stensrud,
from the lace covered table in the dining room. A crystal bowl of white roses
was the centerpiece and crystal candelabra held white tapers.
For her going away outfit the bride wore a suit of hunter's green and black accessories.
After a short honeymoon trip the couple will spend the remainder of Sergeant
Weichert's furlough in Elgin. Serving for 18 months as engineer on a transport
plane in the India-Burma-China war theater, he has just returned to this country."
Harry Elmer Weichert served in the military in 1944
in Asia. Harry served as a Crew Chief, flying "the Hump" in Asia with
the Flying Tigers during World War II. Harry participated in 79 combat missions
as engineer on a transport plane during 18 months of service in the India-Burma-China
war theatre. He was awarded the Air Medal and three Service Stars.
Harry remarried and was in 1994 a resident of Elgin, Illinois.
