She was Baptist in 1995 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. As of January, 1997, Helen is a member of Elgin Evangelical Free Church.

She was married to Arthur MacDonald Ferreira on Apr 12 1958 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. Arthur (Don) and Helen were married on a Saturday which was Easter Eve at the First Baptist Church.

Arthur MacDonald Ferreira was born on Feb 11 1912 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was born on a Sunday. He was christened on Jun 8 1913 in Forest Hills, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Arthur MacDonald Ferreira was christened at Upham Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church. Family Group Record completed by Helen Huffstutler Ferreira.

He died on Feb 12 1991 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. Arthur (Don) died on a Tuesday of lung cancer, less than two weeks after he was told of his cancer and that he had only six months to a year to live. He was buried on Feb 15 1991 in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. Arthur (Don) was the son of Arthur William and Jeannette Camille MacDonald Ferreira. Jeannette's parents were Catherine and Alexander MacDonald and were from the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Her parents then settled at Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Helen Huffstutler Ferreira writes of her husband and his family: "Don always signed himself as 'A. MacDonald Ferreira.' To his family and friends he was Donnie or Don. 'Arthur' was reserved for his father (who, by the way, was Treasurer for the City of Boston and was months away from retirement with a pension when he died so Don’s mother was widowed with no means of support until her children were able to help out. I think Don was 19 when his father died.)

I think Don’s father was born in the U.S., but I know his grandparents emigrated from the Azore Islands (off the coast of Portugal). His grandfather was Serge Ferreira, Portuguese. Serge’s wife was German and her name was Louisa Kattau. (Donna McNutt’s engagement ring diamond was gifted to me by Don’s sister Catherine and I gave it to Donna and John when they got engaged. John had it set by one of his uncles who has a jewelry business in Sycamore. Donna’s wedding ring is the ring Ira [Huffstutler] gave to Kate [Marquis] when they were wed 1919.)

Don used to tell us that the Ferreiras were banished from Portugal to the Azores for stealing sheep! Ha! The name 'Ferreira' is derived from "ferris iron" and is as common in Portugal as Smith or Johnson might be here. It always seemed to me that Don was not really proud of his Ferreira name. Maybe it provoked some teasing or whatever when he was a kid. But he was most proud of the MacDonald heritage. He was quick to explain to everyone that his mother’s parents went from the Isle of Skye, Scotland to Prince Edward Island, Canada. Jeannette Camille MacDonald was born at Prince Edward Island and eventually the family came to the Boston, Massachusetts area.

Don’s older brother, Robert, graduated from Roxbury Latin School in W. Roxbury, Massachusetts, now a very elite, private school. Robert entered Harvard at the age of 16. Don also attended Roxbury Latin School for x-number of years, but finished high school at Boston Latin School. He was not quite the great student Robert was, and was forever being told how gifted 'Master Robert' had been. I doubt that set well with him! But they both had excellent training, academically and ethically, at Roxbury Latin that served them well in the business world later on." Don also had a sister named Catherine.

Helen Katherine Huffstutler and Arthur MacDonald Ferreira had the following children:

child+99 i. Susan Catherine Ferreira.
