Dodge states that "...the Tristram Dodge family settled on Block Island in Rhode Island Colony in 1661." A monument was erected to commemorate the landing of Tristram Dodge at Block Island in Rhode Island. He was born in England. Tristram Dodge was from a region in England on the Scottish border known as the River Tweed. This river originating in southeast Scotland then partly in the north of England rises in a spring called Tweed's well.
