SIXTH GENERATION

28. Eunice Dodge was born on Dec 31 1819 in Nova Scotia, Canada. Eunice's son George H. Whalen states in his first letter, to his daughter Abbie (Bennett) Stephens the following about his mother: "November, 1911, Canning, Nova Scotia, ...my mother lives with me she is ninety one years old the thirty first of next month. I have to lift her in and out of bed and dress her every day she is not very well at the present." Her son George H. Whalen ALSO writes in another letter to his uncle, Eunice's brother Jacob N. Dodge that her birthday is the 30th of December. And finally, Alma D. Whalen, Eunice's granddaughter writes to Abbie (Bennett) Stephens, also Eunice's granddaughter, that Eunice's 92nd birthday was on the 29th of December. But the questions about Eunice accurate birthDAY are many. Is George right when he first wrote DEC 31, or was he correct when he wrote DEC 30? Was Alma right with her date of DEC 29? Since Alma's letter is dated DEC 31, 1911, Eunice's birthday would have just been celebrated. Could Alma's date be the more accurate. Since George is Eunice's son, for the purpose of this family history, we will settle on the first date written. Eunice's age would then be calculated from her son's description as DEC 31, 1819. She died in Nova Scotia, Canada.
